Investigations & Mentoring
Program Seminar

The ITO Program - 4 Days

The Investigations Mentoring and Training Program is intended to facilitate a patrol officer’s transition from conducting initial-limited-investigations to more in-depth, lengthy and complex investigations. Although a patrol officer may have considerable experience and received thorough instruction on basic criminal investigations tasks and activities, the officer cannot be expected to immediately assume the full responsibilities of an experienced investigator. This program recognizes the skills, knowledge and abilities of the “entry-level” investigator may be considerably less than those of the experienced or, “full-performance” investigator. This program uses the same principles of the “San Jose” model of field training in the process of mentoring the new investigator through the subsequent steps of the program until they are ready to function as a “full-performance” investigator. Each student will receive an Investigations Mentoring and Training manual for this course.
